have I moved into a cave?

My old apartment faced roughly south and got sunlight through the bay window. This apartment faces roughly inward and gets no sunlight at all. This, I'm finding, is a problem.

I slept from 11:30 last night to 2:30 this afternoon. Somewhere around 9am, I turned off my alarm and went right back to sleep. (Lesson 1: move the alarm.) I remember feeling really cold. (Lesson 2: probably won't need the air conditioner this summer.) I also remember dreaming about seeing a big blue jet of flame from a gas burner. (Lesson 3: I'm still scared of my stove.) Even now, listening to some awful screaming wood-chipper noise from the construction site, I don't feel fully awake. Too much sleep, maybe.

I'm going to counter the darkness in this apartment with full-spectrum light bulbs. They're hard to find in stores, but easy to buy online. Full-spectrum light is just brighter and prettier than the yellow light from ordinary bulbs. (Jesus, I sound like the shopping channel.) Maybe the light will help wake me up. I feel like I'm living in the dark phase in the arctic when they only get twenty minutes of sunlight a day.

So yeah. That's where I am. Disoriented.

The weather forecast for the weekend is sort of grim. Clouds and rain. I'm hoping for a few minutes of sun so I can take my skates to the park and learn how to stop. My current method of stopping involves grabbing at light poles, which I think is probably not how the pros do it. "Dragging one skate behind you will wear out your wheels," I was warned. Failing to drag one skate behind me might bash in my face. I think I'd rather sacrifice my wheels. I can replace those.

One of the rules of this building is (quoting, here) NO ROLLERBLADES TO BE WORN IN BUILDING AT ANY TIME. Heh. The management is afraid of me.

Okay. Shower. Dinner. Workout. In that order.
