The Kuwait update for the day:
Busy, busy day here, starting with the Wed. night strike at Baghdad, and then - the Iraqi missiles aimed at Kuwait. When the sirens went off, it was lunchtime, and most Kuwaitis went about their business - seemingly unconcerned. We all reached for our gas masks and kept an eye on our caged parakeets, which are our early warning chemical detection system. They're fine - chattering away - which was good news for us.
The consensus seems to be that Saddam Hussein is unlikely to attack on Friday, which is the Muslim Sabbath. Imagine if war observed the Sabbath for other religions as well (Jewish Sabbath is Saturday, Christian Sabbath is Sunday): everyone would relax from sundown on Thursday night to sundown on Sunday night. Just an idea.
